Our Stories
Connie

I'm currently a student at the University of Cambridge, but I've been involved with work at Yellow Press and across the wider Yellow Media Group network for the past year now. My main focus has been working on social media for Yellow Press - creating and curating content around book releases, author spotlights, and upcoming projects. It has been a great opportunity to have been given creative control across platforms. Alongside the team, I've been involved in developing content strategies that help strengthen the Yellow Media Group's digital presence.
I've also contributed to the editorial side of things, supporting book editing projects with Yellow Press. Working with Yellow Youth has been a great way to bridge my academic interests with hands-on creative practice. Despite being young, Yellow Youth has given me genuine creative agency and opportunities to contribute to exciting projects. Yellow Youth has been a great platform and has given me such an impactful insight into the industry.

I have been working with Yellow Press as a graphic designer in the book covers' department for about six months. I have co-designed the covers for several titles including Muck, Master of the Dark Arts (audio book) and Pigs' Disco. I quickly graduated to taking sole responsibility for my own designs, and produced a cover for Sick Parade. As well as working with Yellow Press, I am a second year music and sound design student at Royal Holloway, University of London. I'm a multi-faceted creative, and working with Yellow press has given me the opportunity to develop my design skills, creating a fulfilling and encouraging environment for me to grow in my practice.
Working on the book covers for Yellow Press has been really inspiring, and has made me see the importance of the craft, more so than ever. The vision of both author and publisher is crucial, and can be really rewarding when I achieve this, as well as combining my own unique style as well. I'm excited to be working with Yellow Youth, and I hope this platform will further my career/practice as a creative in the industry.

I am a masters year engineering student and being involved with Yellow Youth has been a transformative experience that significantly broadened my technical skillset through hands-on application. My primary focus was on building numerous websites (including this one), which offered a great immersion into modern web development practices. This required me to master full-stack techniques, from coding dynamic user interfaces on the frontend to developing and managing the underlying server-side logic on the backend.
This practical work has helped improve my skills in programming and system architecture. I also made company email systems and automate complex workflows which has helped build my expertise in IT infrastructure, cloud service integration, and creating scalable, efficient business solutions. This broad range of work has equipped me with a versatile, market-ready technical skillset.
